What’s a MEHKO?

FYI

California Assembly Bill (AB) 626 is state legislation that became effective on January 1st, 2019.  This law authorizes counties (if they so choose) to permit home kitchens for retail use. Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (MEHKO) are food facilities that are operated by residents from their private home kitchens. There are various restrictions and limits that MEHKOs must operate within to provide safeguards for the public.  Subsequent state legislation has modified the parameters of MEHKOs (e.g. AB 1325).

We are proud to say we have successfully navigated the MEHKO approval process (required training, inspection, and licensing) and are a fully permitted operation.
